Just like babies, Baby Brain had to be conceived, nurtured, and, as of today, born through a labour of love…
OK, enough of the weird birthing analogies, but there’s much in that sentence that is true, so I think it’s apt to begin my blog with a post about the foundations of my company.
If you’re reading this, the chances are that you’re invested in the tiny little human(s) that depends solely on you, and you’re constantly looking for ways to ‘get it right’, (‘it’ being this parenting thing). Let’s face it, you wouldn’t be looking at sessions to get special one to one time with your little one and learn a new skill with them if you didn’t care!
So, let’s start at the beginning: what’s in the name?
Firstly, I mean Baby Brain in the figurative sense, i.e. the baby brain that mothers experience during pregnancy and throughout motherhood. This is actually a real thing – there are some suggestions that grey matter decreases during pregnancy to then increase postnatally to enhance the emotional attachment between mothers and their babies. I find this all very interesting, which is why my passion has led me to deliver sessions to make the most of this natural biological mechanism.
Secondly, I also mean Baby Brain in the literal sense. The sessions I teach and facilitate are there to empower parents with the skills and confidence to optimise the development of their own baby’s brain. In my classes, I’ll explain what you can do, and how it benefits your baby and promotes a positive relationship for the future.
Our logo is also a representation of what we set out to achieve with our classes: you’ll notice that there’s oxytocin in the brain, the love hormone that drives bonding and facilitates the secure attachment between parents and their children. We’ll learn all about it, and how we can make the most of our incredible biology.
What else is different about Baby Brain?
I realise that there’s a shortfall of services available to partners, and for this, the company is aiming to be inclusive. This includes ensuring that there are sessions offered on the weekends for parents that may be working during the week, but still want to learn how to connect with their baby. You shouldn’t have to miss out on precious ways to bond with your baby simply because of your schedule.
I also recognise that everyone’s situation is different: when it comes to babies, no two are the same, so a one size fits all approach won’t work. I can assure you that my sessions will be adaptive, with no expection to do anything in a certain way. No pressure, just an opportunity to find something new to do with your baby and help you find your feet on your journey as a parent.
So, book onto a class, and I look forward to meeting you and your little ones soon…
